The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released the official income tax return forms for the 2025 tax year, putting an end to speculation that followed the draft versions issued last month.
Published through SRO 1561(I)/2025 and SRO 1562(I)/2025, the finalized forms cover all categories of taxpayers, including salaried individuals, businesses, companies, and Associations of Persons (AOPs). The new templates are designed for electronic filing and are being described as more user-friendly in an effort to simplify compliance.
This development comes 40 days after the draft formats were shared on July 7. Since then, taxpayers had been left in limbo, particularly because the IRIS portal—FBR’s online filing system—was opened for submissions while the forms were still in draft status. That move triggered confusion about whether returns already filed during the interim period would remain valid, or whether those taxpayers will now be required to re-file under the updated formats.
Tax experts note that while the issuance of simplified forms is a positive step toward transparency, the uncertainty around early filings could create complications unless FBR issues clear guidance.
The finalized forms for salaried persons, AOPs, companies, and business individuals are now accessible online, alongside the simplified electronic return for individual taxpayers.
