Moon Sighting for Rabi-ul-Awwal Underway Across Pakistan

Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is holding a crucial meeting in Islamabad today (Sunday) to determine the start of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.

Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad is presiding over the session, while regional and district moon sighting committees are gathering observations from across the country. Once all reports are reviewed, the central body will make an official announcement later in the evening.

The sighting of the Rabi-ul-Awwal crescent marks the beginning of a month of deep spiritual significance for Muslims, as it includes 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, widely observed as the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Religious authorities are therefore paying close attention to weather conditions and visibility reports to ensure a clear and accurate decision.
