Pakistan has taken a major step toward strengthening its workforce capabilities by partnering with leading Chinese institutions to expand technical and vocational education.
At a ceremony in Beijing, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) signed cooperation agreements with 13 Chinese institutes. NAVTTC’s Executive Director, Muhammad Aamir Jan, signed the documents, with Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain present as chief guest. On the Chinese side, Wang Peng of ITMC China and Max Ma of UNI Services International Pakistan led the proceedings.
New Training Hub Announced
A key announcement was the creation of the China-Pakistan Industry and Education Integration International Service Centre, which will serve as a hub for collaboration in skills development. Alongside this, NAVTTC entered into a memorandum of understanding with ITMC China and UNI Services, and inked 12 separate Letters of Cooperation with partner institutes.
Programs to Match Industry Needs
The agreements set the stage for specialized training programs in Pakistan aligned with the government’s Digital Pakistan vision. These will focus on equipping young people with in-demand skills, ranging from software development and e-commerce to modern agriculture and digital media.
Chinese partners will also support initiatives such as Chinese language courses, training of local instructors, and curriculum development. Plans include establishing Centres of Excellence in advanced technologies to ensure long-term sustainability.
Why It Matters
For Pakistan, where youth unemployment remains a pressing challenge, this cooperation offers pathways not only to local jobs but also opportunities abroad. For China, it strengthens its role as a strategic partner in Pakistan’s development while creating a trained workforce capable of meeting the needs of joint industrial projects.
Both ITMC China and UNI International stressed their commitment to their guiding principle: “Services for the Youth and Services for the Future.” Officials from both sides expect the collaboration to widen employment opportunities and deepen ties between the two countries in education and technology.
