Rawalpindi Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband; Family Cries Foul Over Cover-Up

Rawalpindi – A 40-year-old mother of three was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in Rawalpindi, sparking outrage from her family who claim the accused tried to bury her quietly without informing them.

Police confirmed on Friday that an FIR has been registered against the husband, Amir Abbas, and his three children on charges of murder and attempting to conceal evidence.

Family Learns of Death Through Funeral Announcement

The case came to light when Ghulam Akhtar, the victim’s father from Kot Adu (Muzaffargarh district), heard an announcement in his hometown that his daughter Samina’s funeral would take place early Wednesday morning. He told police that no one from Abbas’s side had contacted them about her death.

Akhtar said he, along with other relatives, rushed to Rawalpindi and found visible torture marks on Samina’s body. His sister, Kalsoom Bibi, and other women in the family reportedly confirmed the same after viewing the corpse.

Threats Allegedly Made to Silence Family

According to the FIR, when Akhtar confronted his son-in-law, Abbas and his children — identified as Mohammad Zaman (17), Shan Haider (15), and Maryam Rani (12) — allegedly threatened him with “dire consequences” if he pursued the matter legally.

Initially, Akhtar contacted police in Kot Adu, but was told the crime fell under the jurisdiction of Dhamial police in Rawalpindi. A case was subsequently registered there, and Samina’s body was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for postmortem examination.

Background: Marriage of Choice Ends in Tragedy

Samina had married Abbas nearly two decades ago against her family’s wishes but had since been living with him in Malik Colony, Dhamial. The couple’s troubled domestic life, according to relatives, may have escalated into fatal violence.

Authorities have yet to release the autopsy report, which will determine the exact cause of death.
