After weeks of closures caused by flood damage, all public schools in Sialkot are scheduled to reopen on September 15, 2025, officials confirmed on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali announced the decision during a meeting with senior education and district administration officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ayub Bukhari, CEO Education Mujahid Alvi, and representatives from the Building Department.
26 Schools Temporarily Shut Down
The floods had forced authorities to close 26 government schools in the district due to safety concerns. According to the Deputy Commissioner, the closures were a precautionary step to protect students until the infrastructure and facilities could be properly restored.
Restoration and Safety Measures
The district administration directed all departments to accelerate repair work. This includes structural checks on school buildings, replacement of damaged furniture, restoration of educational materials, and ensuring sanitation and safety measures are in place before classes resume.
“Student safety remains our foremost concern,” the DC said, stressing that the reopening will only go ahead once repairs are confirmed to be complete.
Education Resumes Without Further Delays
With the September 15 reopening date set, the administration is aiming to ensure students can return to their classrooms without further disruption to the academic year. The move underlines the government’s effort to stabilize education in flood-affected areas while balancing safety concerns.
